Aluminium is the most common material used in exterior construction features such as shop fronts, curtain walls, window frames and doors. This is due to its many enduring features, which allow architects to use the metal in so many varied and contrasting ways. Aluminium has a natural beauty and lustre and its surface can be treated in various ways to produce differing effects, but if Aluminium is not kept in good condition by regular maintenance its surface finish can become spoiled over time. It is difficult to prevent dirt and grime from settling on exposed Aluminium surfaces but if cleaned reasonably frequently then only the mildest methods of washing will be needed to produce satisfactory results Where aluminium has become dull, it is usually caused by oxidation, forming a coating of aluminium oxide and that's what we have to clean off. It protects aluminum from corrosion but as soon as you clean it off the aluminium is exposed and the whole process starts again. Fortunately oxidation it is a slow process so the treated surface will stay bright and clean for some time Safechem's Bright is an acid based aluminium cleaner and brightener. It works by removing the oxidation film leaving the surface treated bright and clean. Simply apply to the surface, agitate using a soft nylon head brush or sponge, then rinse for a restored bright finish Bright is not suitable for anodised or painted aluminium surfaces. Never use alkaline detergents to clean exposed aliminium - there will be a chemical reaction which turn the aluminium black
